PROGRAMMING AND SOFTWARE

For the programming, our team focused on a simple code. The code works in steps, first a sequence of up to 12 normal characters will be entered into a Sting, along with the color that will be written.

To keep the letters always in the same place, a magnetic field detector and a magnet were used. Within the programming it works as a starting point. With the positive signal from the sensor, the program searches for the first letter of the string in its database. After having the instructions in the first column, the system goes through a print function, which sends the data correctly to the 3 shift registers. After all the steps are done it triggers the shifters and the leds are lit. The process repeats until the letter columns run out, at which point a blank column is inserted to separate the letters. Everything continues within a loop until the letters run out, at which point a positive pulse generated by the sensor at the starting point is expected.
